Stevie Wonder
Bobby Brooks
- St. Louis
It has been said of Bobby Brooks, “To take music from him, is to expel his soul from his earthly frame, for it is a vital function for this song and dance performer.” Watching this dynamic entertainer is sheer delight, as Bobby energizes every moment onstage. His creativity and high-energy performance in the award-winning live tribute show, Legends in Concert, is magnificent as he glides easily through his five-octave range in an outstanding tribute to Stevie Wonder. Moving through Wilson favorites like “Lonely Teardrops” and “Baby, Workout,” he takes the audience “Higher and Higher” through his joyous celebration of the legendary super rock star.
Equally spectacular is Bobby’s tribute to Stevie Wonder. From “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” to “Superstitious,” Bobby presents a happy homage to the man who made “I Just Called to Say, I Love You” and other famous rock and roll songs famous.
Although a native of South Carolina, Bobby considers Hawaii (where he worked with Waikiki’s most foremost 1950’s act “The Love Notes ”) home. He also toured with his own one-man show internationally, including Australia where he met soulful Michael Bolton. Bolton was equally impressed with Bobby, saying, “You look like Jackie Wilson and sound like Wilson Pickett.”
A virtuoso musician and singer, Bobby plays both guitar and piano. He studied Media Production and Electronic Systems at U.S.C. before he began his career as a performer. Bobby is a recognized songwriter whose original songs are used by Columbia Records to promote new artists.
Legends in Concert producers first spotted Bobby in a Doo-Wap show. He was encouraged by friend Paul Revere of “Paul Revere and the Raiders” to portray Stevie Wonder.
Audiences and critics alike laud Bobby’s talent and showmanship. You can bet that whatever Bobby does, he puts his “art and soul” into it.
