New Year's Fremont's biggest party ever
LAS VEGAS – January 2, 2009 - It's never happened before. Never before have so many people attended a party on Fremont Street. Things are back to normal on Fremont Street today, but Wednesday night's celebration is being called unbelievable by those who planned it. Under the electronic canopy of the Fremont Street Experience, a capacity crowd of 30,000 gathered for "Tributepalooza" to welcome the new year. Officials said it was the largest ever New Year's crowd at the downtown site, more than double the audience for last year's event.
TributePalooza Live in Concert, produced by Legends in Concert’s parent company On Stage Entertainment, Inc., featured eight top tribute bands performing classic favorites for all ages from Aerosmith, David Bowie, Eagles, KISS, Queen, the Rolling Stones, U2 and Billy Joel on two stages. The unique rock and roll event was a very strong draw even in the tough economy, and the large turnout was especially good for the casinos and surrounding businesses, which sold drinks, hats, noisemakers and food.
“We have had a lot of concerts and thrown a lot of parties out here, but this was amazing,” said Jeff Victor, President of the Fremont Street Experience, the following morning on Las Vegas NBC affiliate KVBC channel 3. “This was the largest crowd to ever attend a party at the Fremont Street Experience and rooms at most downtown hotels were sold out.”
Brian Brigner, Chief Operating Officer for On Stage Entertainment, added “What an amazing and energized night with eight of the top tribute bands in the country, 14 hours of multiple decades of great rock and roll, and an enormous crowd singing every word with the bands. We created the ultimate live concert that will never happen.”
It certainly was the party of the year at the Fremont Street Experience, and maybe of all time.
