Legends In Concert furnished grand prize and
featured on BBC One's prime time talent search series

Winner of BBC One's 'The One and Only' will perform in 'Legends in Concert'
LAS VEGAS - The winner of a new televised talent competition set to air in prime time in the UK beginning Jan. 5 will receive as the grand prize an unprecedented three-month performing contract at "Legends in Concert."  The celebrated tribute artist production, featuring re-creations of more than 100 entertainment icons ranging from Madonna and Elvis Presley to Tina Turner and Elton John, has been a longtime headlining attraction at the Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Production company Initial, an Endemol company, has been commissioned by BBC One, the UK's premier television channel, and has been working closely with On Stage Entertainment, creators of the world's longest-running tribute show, to produce a 14-episode talent search competition series titled "The One and Only..." from which will emerge the best tribute artist in the UK. "Legends in Concert" also is currently presented in numerous cities including Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Branson, Mo.; and Atlantic City, N. J.
Celebrated British television personality Graham Norton will host the weekly live show in front of a studio audience. Following a nationwide search throughout Great Britain, aspiring tribute artists who excelled during the tryouts will be featured on the show. An innovative methodology of voting by a combination of superfans and viewers will be used to select 10 finalists – representing five male and five female solo musical artists. Finalists will be eliminated one-by-one each week until the winner is crowned.
This week, Norton and a BBC crew are in Las Vegas – where celebrity impersonators reign supreme - to visit "Legends in Concert" and shoot segments for the series. Current and recent "Legends" performers will offer expert opinions and advice to help contestants capture the essence of their superstars and also will share what it takes to make it on the world's greatest tribute concert stage.  When the competition nears its conclusion and has been trimmed down to four finalists, they, Norton and the BBC crew will return to watch "Legends," raising the stakes as they vie for the prize – performing with "Legends in Concert."
Male tribute artist contestants must perform as Elton John, Frank Sinatra, Freddie Mercury, Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson, Robbie Williams, Rod Stewart, Cliff Richard or Tom Jones. Females must perform as Britney Spears, Cher, Diana Ross, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Tina Turner, Dusty Springfield, Kylie Minogue or Whitney Houston.
"The longevity of 'Legends in Concert' demonstrates the popularity of tribute shows. Participating in the production of 'The One and Only' and providing the platform for the prize enhances our efforts with the excitement surrounding a competition," said Gina Capecci, On Stage's vice president and as associate producer of the series. "We are thrilled that one of the world's premier television networks has chosen to showcase our type of entertainment. It will lift the bar of excellence for the aspiring and gifted performers who dedicate themselves in this fashion."
"We could not be prouder of 'Legends in Concert' and its phenomenal success here at the Imperial Palace and throughout the U.S.," said Ed Crispell, the Las Vegas resort's general manager.
Endemol's global network spans 25 countries and their programs are seen all around the world. Their hit shows include "Deal or No Deal," "Big Brother," "Extreme Makeover : Home Edition" and "Fear Factor."
"We're proud and excited to be making this show for the BBC," said Louise Rainbow, Endemol's executive producer for the series, "and 'Legends in Concert' is the perfect showcase and best imaginable prize for our winner."
Mark Lindsey, BBC executive producer for the series, said, "'The One and Only' is going to be a great Saturday night search to find the UK's best tribute act - someone who not only can sing, but also look and act like a star. And up for grabs is a once-in-a-lifetime prize - performing at 'Legends in Concert.'"
