Myrtle Beach Live Entertainment

The Grand Strand, Myrtle Beach is home to some of the best live entertainment in the United States. Most visitors to Myrtle come for the sand and surf, but they are pleased to discover when they get here that they can enjoy great shows as well on their Myrtle Beach vacation. Myrtle Beach is the 13th fastest growing metropolitan area in the United States. In addition to the growing population, there are numerous conventions and conferences held in the city every year.

Myrtle Beach live entertainment comes in many forms. One of the most highly sought after acts is Legends in Concert, a revue of celebrity tribute entertainers presented from the Surfside Beach Theater. Surfside Beach is the "family beach" area of Myrtle Beach and has been the home of Legends for 14 years. Celebrity tribute entertainers cover the hits of such notable figures as Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, Cher, and Alan Jackson, among many others. Spectators are treated to a review with four or five celebrity names, making for an evening of variety that the whole family is sure to love.

If you visit Myrtle Beach in September and November, you can get a free live show by watching the Rockettes rehearse for their Christmas show in a building adjacent to the Freestyle Music Park. This favorite pastime of many local students is a big treat for tourists that happen to catch it too. Freestyle Music Park is a theme park in Myrtle Beach that offers its own live entertainment as well. Ice Cold Country is a classic country and western show on ice, presenting country like you've never seen it before.

One of the more amusing pieces of Myrtle Beach Live Entertainment is also resident at the Freestyle Music Park. CSI: Live will make you think of crime scene investigation in an entirely new light; a musical one! That's right, the crazy antics of forensics experts have been translated into musical theater, something that you just simply won't want to miss.

If you want something a little more adult-oriented, any one of the many pubs and bars in Myrtle Beach feature great live entertainment. Froggy Bottom's features live blues and rock every night, and it is right next to a few of Myrtle Beach's hottest nightclubs. Gypsy's and Alley Cat's also specialize in rock, blues and jam bands. If your taste runs to the more alternative, try the Lazy I, which features alternative, punk and progressive rock.

There are also a number of restaurants that feature live entertainment in Myrtle Beach, the most famous one probably being the Dixie Stampede. You can also try 811 Steak and Pasta, Tommy Bahama's, Croissants Bistro, Collectors Cafe, Handleys Pub & Grub, Creek Ratz, The Brentwood, The Bowery, Salt Creek Cafe, and the Island Bar and Grill. As you can see, there is no shortage of live entertainment venues to choose from, whether you are looking for a live show, music with your dinner, or just plain old bar tunes.

Lots of live entertainment also exits on the many casino boats that dock just off of Myrtle Beach. Many of them offer free tickets and meals for first-time cruisers or similar promotions, so take advantage of these if you want to check out a gaming cruise.

Don't forget all the dinner theater in town as well; attractions like the Dixie Stampede, Medieval Times and others offer a great meal and a complete entertainment experience. The House of Blues also offers lives rock and blues entertainment in a restaurant styled to look like a Southern farmhouse with an adjoining tobacco barn.

Live Entertainment packages are also available from nearly all of the hotels and resorts and Myrtle Beach. Ask your hotel or agent when booking to try to get you a package deal with your reservation; there are many available. They do vary at different times of year and with shows, so this is something you can really only pin down at the time of your reservation. Some resorts that offer these packages are the Sea Mist Oceanfront Resort, the SeaSide Resort, the Island Vista Resort and the Prince Resort.

Live entertainment on your Myrtle Beach vacation also comes in the forms of bars and nightlife. Most of the bars up and down the Grand Strand offer live entertainment, including Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, the Beach Music Cafe, HB Spokes Saloon and tons of others.

Check your calendar for the festivals that may be taking place during your stay as well. There is a festival for every month of the year. February features the Mardi Gras Myrtle Beach Festival, April features the Rivertown Jazz Festival, July is home to the Surfside Beach celebration, and there are tons of other festivals. These festivals are usually accompanied by or structured around live entertainment, which is often free or available for a very low cost.
