Ledyard (WTNH) There are many tributes to Michael Jackson being held around the world. One performer is taking on the role of the musical legend at Foxwoods Casino.

On stage he’s the king of pop. Back stage Damian Brantley is a tribute performer humbled by his new role in the hearts of MJ’s fans.

“It’s an even more of an honor to now do it now and be one to hold the torch and try my best to continue and keep his legacy on the up and up,” said Brantley.

While thousands gathered in Los Angeles to celebrate the performer, a smaller, but enthusiastic crowd, gathered at the Legends in Concert show at Foxwoods for a tribute to Jackson.

“People don’t understand that all five acts are in every show everyday and they want to make sure he’s gonna be in the show and he’s one of the acts they’re gonna see,” said Production Manager Heather Perron.

“It’s kind of a similar situation when Elvis passed,” said Brantley.

Right now Elvis is the headliner for the Foxwoods concert but in August Michael will close out the show.

“You could feel that emotion and the emotional rush from the crowd, as well, and to be able to control yourself, and stay on the professional plane, wasn’t easy,” Brantley said.

The show runs from June 30th to July 9th at the Foxwoods Casino.
