1. What time does your 8pm show start? You would be shocked we get this intriguing question quite often.
2. “How Much are your tickets?” a guest asked, the Legends sales representative answers, then guest asks “is that price for a man or woman?” Hey! Same price for the ladies and gentleman at our show.

3. A guest approached our Myrtle Beach ticket office and asked “Is this where we come for the free golf lessons?” Nope. Just the World’s Longest Running and Most Popular tribute show, although some of our entertainers love to golf!

4. A ticket agent answered an incoming call on our reservation line and stated “Thank you for calling Legends In Concert, may I help you?”, the guest asked “Are you a real person?”. Contrary to popular trends when you call during normal business hours, we do actually answer the phone!

5.
6. A Customer called to purchase 3 seats. Our ticket agent asks “are all 3 adults?”, guest responds “Yes, they are married!” double huh?

7. “Is the ticket price higher for people from Florida?” Nope again. We love Floridians just as much as every other American.

8. A ticket agent asked a caller “Do you have access to the internet?”, the caller responded “Yes, I will be coming on the interstate!” I guess it won’t be on the information highway!

9. A guest called and asked “Do you think my six year old son can stay awake until 11pm?” reservationist responded ” I’m not sure miss, what time does he normally go to bed?” We guarantee that our show will keep you rockin’ in your seat. No time for sleeping during our energy-infused concerts!

10.	A guest called and asked “how on earth can Elvis and Buddy Holly be performing in the same show if they are both deceased?” Have to admit we get questions of this nature a lot. We are the world’s longest running and most highly-regarded tribute show. Our performers have painstakingly dedicated hours to perfect re-creating every aspect of all our legends whether deceased or alive.

After a wildly successful summer at Foxwoods, Legends will return with a crowd pleasing holiday line-up beginning November 27th.

Foxwood’s casino-goers will be delighted by two holiday icons, Bing Crosby and Elvis Presley and fans will be enamored by two different shades of Christmas.
In addition to such a memorable holiday line-up, Legends and Foxwoods are offering guests phenomenal savings packages including $69.99 per couple for Dinner at the Festival Buffet and the Legends Holiday Show or $149.99 per couple for a one night stay, dinner at Festival Buffet and the Legends Holiday Show.

Fresh off his admirable 3rd place finish at the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest in Memphis, Kevin Mills took a few moments out of his busy nightly routine to sit down and answer a few spur of the moment questions for us at our Myrtle Beach Legends In Concert location.

 1. What is your favorite memory to date performing as an Elvis Tribute Artist?

“It was performing at the 2009 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest in Memphis and Placing Third in the world, It was an honor to win such a prestigious award.”

2. If you could be a tribute to any other act beside Elvis who would it be and why?

“I haven’t thought much about that because my main focus is the art of doing Elvis. Although, I really enjoy Johnny Cash. If I had the chance I would choose Johnny Cash because its easy for me to mimic his voice. I’ll occasionally perform an impromptu Cash song in my set.”

 3. What is your personal record for most scarves tossed into the crowd in one evening, where & when ?

”Oh! (laughs) Taj Mahal in Atlantic City NJ in 1997, I think it was around 30!! The ladies just wouldn’t stop coming to the stage, but I was ready for them.”

4. How many jumpsuits do you accidentally rip yearly?

”They all have there moments.”

5. More on the jumpsuits… How many different jumpsuits have you owned since becoming an ETA and what is the most you have ever spent on a jumpsuit?

“I currently own 8 jumpsuits and the most expensive is the ALOHA suit which cost $3500.00!”

6. Beside yourself of course, what other Elvis Tribute Artist’s do you consider to be in the top 5 in the United States?

“I really enjoy Shawn Klush, Ryan Pelton, Donnie Edwards, Leo Days and Tony Roi”

7. What are your favorite pro sports teams? If you could play one sport professionally, which one it be and why?

” That’s easy, Baseball. My favorite team is the Philadelphia Phillies. I always played ball as a kid in south Philly growing up, actually it was stick ball but my dream as a kid was to play first base for the Phillies.”

8. What is the weirdest encounter you’ve ever had with an adoring female fan?

“I would have to say the time one women actually leaped on the stage to get a scarf. (laughing) I mean she was at my knees begging for one. I thought that was funny, but sweet.”

9. If you weren’t an Elvis Tribute Artist, what would you be your profession?

”I love to cook and I was in the restaurant business for 12 years, I would love to be a chef.”

10. To date, at which Legends In Concert venue have you had the most fun?

“I really enjoyed my stay here in Myrtle Beach because the cast I have worked with are really cool and fun to hang out with, also there is so much to do here in Myrtle. I especially love the beach.”

11. Blue Hawaii or Love Me Tender?

”Love me Tender….the ladies love it!”

Thank you Kevin!

Kevin was kind enough to honor our interview request moments before going on-stage to belt out “Blue Suede Shoes” to a capacity crowd in Myrtle Beach. Catch Kevin performing nightly in Myrtle Beach until the end of October. Thereafter, he can be seen in the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Tour at Lumiere Place in St. Louis and the Legends In Concert Holiday Spectacular at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.

Kenny is the musical director & lead/rhythm guitarist for Legends In Concert in Myrtle Beach, SC. He has been wielding his axe since 1997 at our South Carolina location and leading the band since 2007.

We decided to take a moment to do a brief sit down with Kenny and gather a few memorable pieces of his Legends journey thus far….

How old where you when you first picked up a guitar? “10″

Who are your musical influences and a fan of?“Chet Atkins, Tony Rice, Eddie Van Halen, Eric Johnson, Ray Flack, and Jerry Reed.”

Who has been in the Surfside location band the longest beside you? and what is the best thing you like about his/her playing style? “Randy Porshia. I really admire Randy’s versatility. His skill allows him to adapt so easily to a variety of musical styles.”

As a performer, what is the most embarrassing on-stage, live mishap you have witnessed? “I was playing bass at an outdoor Bluegrass festival. The fiddle player had a little too much to drink and started swatting at a bird with his bow during one of our songs.”

What is your most favorite moment with Legends In Concert? “Singing harmony with Whit Privette behind Jennifer Joseph as Linda Ronstadt.”

After all these years of performing live night in and night out for Legends, what remains as your favorite Legends’ artist song to perform live? “Our Neil Diamond tribute’s version of The Christmas Song. I loved playing the sax solo on guitar!”

What is the oddest comment you have ever heard from a guest after a show? “Hey, are you Elvis?”

How much time, on average, does the band rehearse for an incoming act? “2 days plus homework…Kenny laughs heartily after this answer. He says “sometimes it’s really tough to put a real number on the actual time it takes to prepare, it can vary from act to act.”

Which Legends normally have the most difficult musical charts for the band to rehearse or “gel” on? “Barbra Streisand, Marilyn Monroe, Liberace, and I could probably name a few more…”

Aside from Legends In Concert, what is the most recent concert you have attended as a fan? “It was a multiple bill of 80’s bands back in 2006, I think? Firehouse, Ratt, Cinderella, & Quiet Riot.”

Last question, two words to describe your band? “Dedicated and meticulous!”

Dedicated and meticulous. Well put Kenny. Catch Kenny Duncan and the band live nightly at our Surfside Beach theater.

For the second straight year, Elvis fans were completely captivated with over one dozen tributes to the King of Rock-N-Roll at Legends In Concert in Surfside Beach, SC.

This 2009 version of the competition featured contestants from all over the United States. Elvis tributes came from as far west as Texas to bring their special brand of Elvis to the throng of Elvis-hungry fans.

The evening’s festivities were emceed by resident South Strand favorite, Steve Fairchild, who portrays Garth Brooks throughout the country at Legends In Concert venues. Steve opened the one night only engagement with an energized and Garth Brooks-ified version of Elvis’ “That’s Alright Mama”, immediately drawing the crowd into an Elvis-filled evening. The evening also featured Kevin Mills, who made two special appearances throughout the evening bringing his Elvis magic to the crowd with impeccable versions of ”Polk Salad Annie” and “My Way”.

The competition opened with the return of last year’s Myrtle Beach contest winner, Michael Sokolik, Jr., who brought local fans to their feet with an energetic & youthful version of Elvis. From there, the night shined on with a dozen more Elvis acts who belted out spirited versions of all of Elvis’ hits from the rare ”Edge of Reality”, to the spiritual ”You Gave Me A Mountain”, and the ever-popular ”Suspicious Minds”.

When the dust settled at the end of round one, only Nathan Belt of Grapevine, Texas, Michael Sokolik, Jr., of Socastee, SC, and Vince King of Pearland, Texas were left standing as the final three. Each of the three then performed two more Elvis hits for the judges. Michael once again took the stage with non-stop movement ala Elvis’ early days and he was followed by Vince King, who provided the crowd with a well-balanced approach to the King of Rock; mixing both melodic vocals and a polished resemblance to Elvis. But the evening belonged to Nathan Belt, who performed third in the final round. Nathan opened his set with a breathtaking rendition of “Hurt” that kept the capacity crowd in awe and resulted in an extended standing ovation. Nathan’s vocals soared to peaks that, at times, seemed almost effortless on his part. Tonight, Nathan had the complete package; Elvis swagger, towering vocals, and a charm only Elvis himself could exude.

The judges votes were in! Nathan Belt (pictured above) saddled in first place followed by fellow Texan, Vince King, who placed a close second. Michael Sokolik, Jr. rounded out the top three finalists.

As the curtain fell on Myrtle Beach’s second annual Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Preliminary round, the entire ensemble of Elvis tributes treated the crowd to one final Elvis anthem, “Viva Las Vegas”.

Shortly after 11:30pm, all the “Elvi had the left building” , capping off the Fabulous Fifties Festival weekend which is certain to become an enduring tradition along the Grand Strand for years to come.
